Say No To Seasonal Allergies With Immunity Booster

by VITROMED HEALTHCARE 29 Nov 2022

An allergy that occurs in a particular season is known as hay fever. This fever usually arises when your immune system overreacts to an outdoor allergen such as pollen. The most common types of allergens are pollen from wind-pollinated plants such as trees, grasses, and weeds. The pollen from the pollinated plants is too massive to remain airborne for long and they are less likely to trigger an allergic reaction. Seasonal allergies arise less during the winter season. Different plants erupt respective pollen at different times of the year. Relying on the allergy triggers and the place you live, you might experience hay fever in more than one season.

A new medical study originated nasal sprays that provided relief from allergic rhinitis, this was advised to only 26% of the 571 patients needing it. Later, it was also found that only four out of the 1030 patients were bestowed with allergy vaccines that can provide relief for up to six months. This was said by the author of the study and the allergy specialist Dr. Wiqar Sheikh blames the shortage of allergy specialists for this epidemic of poor treatment.

The study that was recently published in the Journal of Evolution of Medical and Dental Sciences, says about 1030 patients who were earlier treated for their allergies by specialists ranging from dermatologists to surgeons. "Since the sufferers were not doctored by the allergy specialist, only half of the asthma patients had been advised to use inhalers previously. Further, more than 90% of patients have been prescribed a drug that will prevent wheezing even though it was not felt to be needed", said Dr. Shaikh, a professor at state-run JJ Hospital in Byculla. He is a trusted allergist/immunologist in Grant Road East, Mumbai. You can meet him personally at Allergy and Asthma Clinic in Grant Road East, Mumbai.
